Cane River Dam Removal

The Cane River Dam project involves the restoration of 2,000 linear feet of streambanks and the removal of all of the hazardous fifty foot high concrete dam that is impeding aquatic organism passage on the Cane River.  Removing the dam will restore aquatic organism passage, natural riverine processes and stream function, instream aquatic habitat, and riparian and floodplain buffer for rare aquatic species, including the federally endangered Appalachian elktoe.
